If you walked past Pier 3 last Friday, you might have thought a movie premiere was about to kick off. On the 19th of December, the illuminance Solutions team gathered for a year-end celebration that we actually chose for ourselves. We opted for a sunset cruise on the Swan River, and looking at the excitement on everyone’s faces, it was clear that this was about much more than just the end of the calendar year.
The illuminance “Glow Up”
By 6:40 PM, Pier 3 at Barrack Street Jetty looked more like a red carpet event than a staff gathering. Everyone turned up looking a million bucks. There was a brilliant energy in the air as colleagues arrived in their best attire, clearly excited to celebrate each other.
Our support team deserves a special mention. Dressed to the nines, they looked more like a professional security detail protecting high-value assets than the legends who protect our data every day. Between them and the rest of the team looking like genuine celebrities, we are pretty sure the other tourists at the jetty thought they had stumbled onto a movie set.

A Sense of Belonging
There was a real sense of pride as we walked toward the jetty as one big group. Walking together, looking our best, and sharing a laugh before boarding the Captain Cook Cruise created a powerful feeling of belonging. It is one thing to work for a company, but it is another thing entirely to feel like you are part of a squad that turns heads.
As the boat pulled away and the sky turned those famous shades of West Australian orange and purple, the “boss and employee” labels disappeared. Our leadership, Nilesh and Vincent, spent the night mingling as part of the family.
It was particularly special to meet the partners and friends of our staff. Seeing everyone share stories and get to know the people behind our team made us realise that illuminance Solutions has truly become one big family. It is not just about the code we write or the solutions we build; it is about the genuine care we have for one another.

The night was fuelled by a tasty buffet and unlimited drinks, but the real highlight was the atmosphere. After dinner, most of us moved to the outdoor areas of the cruise. There is a specific kind of magic in seeing the Perth city views and the night sky reflect off the water while you are mingling with the best team in the business.
The Verdict: Why We Feel Lucky
The real magic of the night became clear once we returned to shore. The feedback from the team was heartwarming. People did not just talk about the tasty buffet or the unlimited drinks; they talked about how lucky they felt to be part of this specific team.
At illuminance Solutions, we work hard, but we also know how to celebrate our wins with style and heart. We are a caring group that knows life is about more than just the 9 to 5.
