Inspiring the Next Generation Through Technology and Real-World Experience

Last Wednesday, 22 April 2026 reflected that belief in action. Across two meaningful engagements in a single day, our team connected with students from Edith Cowan University (ECU) and Murdoch University, sharing insights on artificial intelligence, career growth, and real-world leadership.
Bringing AI to Life at ECU Joondalup
The day began at ECU’s Joondalup campus, where our CEO, Nilesh Makwana, alongside Automation and Operational Intelligence Analyst, Saim, delivered a guest lecture on:
“Transforming Software Development Efficiency with AI: A Real-World Perspective.”
With a room full of computer science students eager to understand how AI is used in organisations, the session focused on bridging the gap between theory and real-world application.
Rather than speaking in abstractions, the discussion centred on how illuminance actively uses AI to improve operational efficiency across the business. Students were introduced to practical implementations such as:
- AI-powered HR agents
- Business Analysis (BA) agents
- Support automation agents
The conversation also explored how governance frameworks are essential to minimise risks and ensure responsible AI adoption. This is becoming increasingly important as organisations rely more on intelligent systems.
Looking ahead, Nilesh and Saim shared perspectives on the future of AI, its evolving role in the workplace, and the skills students need to remain relevant in a rapidly changing landscape.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, where students actively sought guidance on career pathways, staying current with AI advancements, and navigating the fast-moving tech ecosystem.
As a token of appreciation, the team was presented with a certificate and ECU memorabilia by Syed M. Shamsul Islam, who invited illuminance to deliver the session.
From Student to CEO: Real Stories at illuminance
Later that evening, illuminance Solutions welcomed a group of Murdoch University students to our office. The cohort included students from diverse international backgrounds studying community services.
This session shifted from technology to something equally important. Personal journey and leadership.
Nilesh opened the conversation by sharing his own story. He spoke about arriving in Australia as a student and the journey towards becoming the CEO of a growing technology company.
It was not a story of instant success. It was shaped by real challenges:
- Adapting to a new country
- Navigating uncertainty
Through honesty and reflection, students gained insight into what persistence, adaptability, and continuous learning look like in practice.
Following a short break with a small spread of treats, the session continued with practical guidance on:
- Building professional networks
- Engaging in events and opportunities
- Adapting to new environments and cultures
Beyond Business: Commitment to Community and Sustainability
The discussion also highlighted that success is not measured by business growth alone, but by the impact created along the way.
Students were introduced to illuminance’s broader commitments, including:
- Aligning with UNICEF Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- Supporting digital literacy initiatives within the community
- Respecting and contributing to Australia’s Reconciliation Action Plan
Nilesh also emphasised the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance. This is a value deeply embedded within the culture at illuminance.

The session concluded with an open Q&A, where students asked thoughtful questions about career direction, time management, and insights into the company.
The level of engagement and curiosity reflected a shared desire to learn, grow, and make meaningful contributions in their respective fields.
