Stronger Together: Scam Awareness for Seniors

At Illuminance, our commitment to community goes beyond technology. It is about creating meaningful impact where it matters most. Last week, we had the opportunity to help deliver an important event focused on cyber awareness and online safety.

Supporting Seniors Through Scam Awareness in Rockingham

In partnership with the City of Rockingham, we delivered a scam awareness session for the second time at the Westerly Family and Community Centre in Cooloongup. This session was led by financial professional and fraud expert Alison Murray, and supported by cybersecurity analyst Alex Smith (illuminance Solutions).

As digital technologies continue to evolve, so do the tactics used by scammers. Seniors remain one of the most targeted groups, often facing increasingly sophisticated scams through phone calls, emails, and online platforms. This session focused on providing practical, real-world knowledge to help attendees recognise and respond to these threats with confidence.

This event is part of an ongoing initiative to build cyber awareness at the grassroots level. By equipping seniors with the right knowledge, we are helping create safer and more informed communities.
