On February 16th, 2024, the West Tech Assemblage (WTA) Half-Day Conference unfolded in Perth, bringing together stakeholders, civic leaders, and community members to discuss digital citizenship and inclusivity. illuminance Solutions was honoured to be a proud sponsor of this transformative event, which provided a platform for meaningful dialogue and collaboration.
This event holds particular significance for illuminance Solutions due to our longstanding partnership with WTA. illuminance Solutions CEO Nilesh Makwana serves as the funder and Chair of WTA, demonstrating our deep-rooted support for the organisation’s mission and values. In 2022, we hosted the launch of the Digital Inclusion in WA Blueprint in collaboration with the WA Government at illuminance headquarters. This initiative underscores our commitment to advancing digital inclusion and accessibility in Western Australia.
During the conference, attendees and participants delved into discussions surrounding the progress of the Digital Inclusion in WA Blueprint and heard from stakeholders about initiatives aimed at ensuring that seniors and individuals from culturally diverse backgrounds are not left behind in our increasingly digital world. The voices from the community shared eye-opening real-life experiences, offering valuable insights into the challenges of digital exclusion.
A standout moment occurred during the Voices from the Community panel, where illuminance intern, Dylan Watts, bravely shared his own experience with digital exclusion. Dylan’s testimony shed light on the challenges faced by young adults in incarceration, highlighting the importance of digital teaching programs and access for rehabilitation.
In a display of leadership and adaptability, Nilesh Makwana stepped in alongside Greg Italiano when two ministers were unable to attend a panel discussion. The impromptu discussion, facilitated by Alex Jenkins, delved into digital transformation and the government’s role in ensuring inclusivity.
