Being the change we want to see

This year, the team at illuminance Solutions was particularly inspired by the 2022 National Reconciliation Week theme: Be Brave, Make Change. It is a message that encourages Australians to make positive lifestyle changes, even if they are inconvenient or challenging, that make the country a more inclusive and welcoming place. This theme is woven into the very fabric of our business and guides what we do and why we do it.

Visiting Civic with Wiise and Microsoft

When the WA borders opened to travel again, a meeting between illuminance Solutions, Civic Disability Services, Wiise, and Microsoft in Sydney was quickly organised. Nilesh met CEO of Civic, Annie Doyle before the borders shut down and Australia went into lockdown the first time, and they invited CEO of Wiise, Charlie Wood and Rachel Bondi, the Chief Partner Officer at Microsoft.

Global Leaders Experience Visits illuminance

The Global Leader Experience is a program created by Common Purpose in partnership with universities. It brings together a diverse group of students to provide them with the skills and networks required to work across boundaries and become global leaders.

2021 Highlights!

We’re looking back on some highlights from the previous year. It was an incredibly busy year for us, with many new clients and opportunities, events and lots of fun. We conducted digital literacy training sessions, participated in sporting events, received visits from ministers and consul generals, did some upskilling, and participated in Microsoft Certification Week. And we had some cake.

illuminance Is Committed to Making Digital Equity a Right for Seniors

Seniors have never felt so isolated. Lockdowns in the eastern states, travel restrictions and rules preventing many people from visiting aged-care centres have had a huge impact on older people. It’s therefore fitting that the UN is marking this year’s International Day of Older Persons with the theme “Digital Equity for All Ages.” illuminance is committed to making Digital Equity a right for seniors.

Our biggest training yet!

Technology is advancing at a rapid pace, and some groups in our community are being left behind. A digital divide is emerging, which makes equal treatment and opportunity even more challenging to achieve. As a Gold Partner of one of the biggest technology actors in the world, Microsoft, we take responsibility for this digital divide. On 14 July 2021, we went to the Waalitj Foundation to train Microsoft 365 programs to the mentors in the Deadly Sista Girlz education program.

NAIDOC Week 2021

NAIDOC Week is an Australian observance lasting from the first Sunday in July until the following Sunday. The acronym NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. It has its roots in the 1938 Day of Mourning, becoming a week-long event in 1975.
The NAIDOC 2021 theme – Heal Country! – calls for all of us to continue to seek greater protections for our lands, our waters, our sacred sites and our cultural heritage from exploitation, desecration, and destruction.

Action Speaks Louder Than Words

Reconciliation Australia was established 20 years ago to provide national leadership on reconciliation and 2021 marks 20 years of reconciliation in Australia. illuminance are taking action to tackle the digital literacy gap and we believe that action speaks louder than words. Since 2018 we’ve been working to tackle the digital literacy gap in our Indigenous community, and with our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) we are working toward reconciliation every day. Because it’s the right thing to do.

Celebrating Harmony Week 2021 with an award

All Australians are encouraged to wear something orange during Harmony Week, and we decided to do so as well on Friday 19th March. When planning this the team did not know that illuminance were going to take home the Multicultural Business Award on the night before. As so happened, wearing orange really turned out to  be a way of sharing our joy and celebrating our multiculturalism and diversity even more.
